Unemployed. Temporary disability?

I'm currently collecting UE due to being laid off. I'm also pregnant and have been told I can apply for temporary disability for when I give birth. How long would I be able to take and how do I go about applying for it?

Its been that way for years from what I've read. You CAN be on temp disability. What if someone has a C section and is unavailable for work as they are recovering? What do you expect them to do? Work standing up and possibly harming themselves even more by not taking time to heal from surgery? What if some other health issue arises because of birth, and has to stop looking for work while unemployed (because some employer laid them of)?

If no one can actually answer this question without some snide remark, don't bother answering.

Really?

Disability for being pregnant???

*SIGH*

No wonder Social Security is broke. When exactly did being pregnant become a disability???
