How can I tell if it'll work well with my hair? Is there a certain type of hair you need to have for it to work well for you?

Manic Panic is a vegan product it's good for all hair types. But if you want bright long lasting color you will need to bleach your hair first. They also have a great bleach kit. http://www.manicpanic.com/tips.html

You really should bleach your hair first, or the sections you want to be colored. Manic Panic doesn't stay in your hair very long, so you'll need to keep applying it especially if you chose a light color. In my personal experience, blue tends to stay in the longest. Manic Panic makes a bleach called "Flash Lightening" , it's like 8 bucks and i think it works the best.

No, it should work for about any type of hair except for really damaged hair, it could be from dryness or passed dyes. Make sure it's healthy before you go ahead and jazz up your hair. Hope this helped you, good luck (:
