I have a gateway computer and my younger sister disconnected the keyboard and now it won't reconnect. help?

I've restarted it multiple times and I keep re-plugging it in. Please help!

If the keyboard has a round plug, it has to be plugged in before you turn the computer on. Plugging it in after you start the computer won't work.
