Resisting wrongful arrest?
This is pertaining to the UK. Recently, I was stopped by some guy I knew (I didn't particularly like him, he was a special brew waster.) in the street asking me for money. I refused and continued on my way, this guy then gets in my way physically stopping me with his hand and arm. So I punched him, knocking him over. A few days later, the police knock on my door to discuss this incident. I let them in and explain what happened, they caution me and say I may be charged with assault. That was the last I heard of it. As far as I can tell, from the legal stuff I can find online, this guy had performed a wrongful arrest (restraining me) to which I was entitled to resist with reasonable force, which I believe hitting him ONCE was reasonable. I know the law in this country often favors the antagonists, but what do you think my chances are?
Hey Omega, All I want to do is let it go, but it aint upto me.
