Local Municipality Tax Filing Question?
Ok so I'm a resident in Pennsylvania, and on my pay stubs my employer withheld LST taxes for Municipality A, and Municipality B...and this is the case with everyone who works there.
I don't live in either of those so I pay quarterly payments to my Municipality. I was filing my 2010 local tax return and I wasn't sure if I count the taxes from Municipality A & B that my employer withheld as "tax withheld" or not?
Does that LST tax just go to those two municipalities even though I don't live there I only work there? or do I report that to my municipality and get back some of the quarterly payments I would have overpaid?
Thanks,
Jim
Thanks Judy...I live just outside of Pittsburgh and I think thats the reason why its being withheld for two....it only adds up to $1.99 per paycheck but the two Municipalaties are basically the same so it is probably one for the school district and one for the local government.
Everyone who works their gets these taxes taken out, so nobody really knows why they do it. I'm sure I could call the HR department and get them to stop taking it out.
I'll just file the return with them and get that back, thanks!
