Question on scrubbers?

"Scrubbers" are not normally used for removal of particulates. Particulates are commonly removed by using either Bag House Filters or Electrostatic Pecipitators. "Scrubbers" are units that use chemicals in a water solution which is sprayed into the air stream containing the chemical you desire to "Scrub", or remove from the air stream. The chemicals in the air stream combine with the chemicals in the water spray and form into a compound that drops out of the air stream and into the water solution, which is called a "slurry". The slurry which has now captured the undesired chemicals from the air stream can then be pumped to waste.

A very good example is the compounds of Sulfur which are in the stack air from power plants. Sulfur in the air combines with water moisture to form an acid which is bad for the environment.
