What happens if the inbound pass touches the backboard/rim/basket before it touches a player?

Scenario: Player A is attempting an inbound pass alley-oop to Player B, but the pass hits the backboard before it touches any other player. Would play proceed? Does the clock start at that point, or does it not start until the ball touches a player? Or is it a violation that would result in a turnover?

I think play would proceed. Clock starts when player touches the ball. As long as the ball touches something that is legally inbounds it should be okay.

Unless it goes out of bounds again, the ball is still in play.

clock starts again when next person touches the ball.

if it rolls out of bounds its out of bounds.

Out of bounce AKA turnover
