Im thinking of buying a boat and not sure what is a good deal?

I was thinking of purchasing either a 12' Aluminum Jon Boat for $200 or a 12' fiberglass john boat for $150. They both need a little detailing. The alluminum boat needs only to be respray painted. The fiberglass boat has light fiberglass damage on the bottom that can be cheap and easy to fix . So I was wonder what people think. I dont have a trailer but have truck to hall em for now till i get one. Which would make the alluminum easier to carry. The alluminum one is a distance away from where I live so I havent seen it only by pictures. IM wondering about the prices and if these are a good deal or is better to buy new.......

checking for leaks is a must!. If you can not float it,fill it with water to see if any leaks.
Price is fair it depends on what you find.

First question is, how old is the aluminium boat? As aluminium ages and flexes it tends to develop stress cracks in the rib sections. Before you lay your money down look very carefully for signs of flexing at the ribs, transom and bottom. Fiberglass is fine as long as you do your repairs carefully making sure that you tie the repair into the undamaged section of the hull. You really don't want to be in the middle of the lake sinking. last look at the oarlocks to make sure they have not been wallowed out and are not in imminent danger of falling off due to metal or fiberglass fatigue. I know you will say you have a motor, but sometimes motors don't start or you ding the prop and there you are rowing. Good luck.
