Do Marine mortarmen carry rifles?

I was planning on being a 0341 in the Marine Corps, and I was wondering if they carried rifles or carbines. I just finished reading With the Old Breed by Eugene Sledge, and he carried a m1 carbine, so would modern mortarmen carry an M4?
