Help identifying this light blue segmented "pod"?

I think this may be 2 identical outer shells of something that have been attached together by hand. The segmented pattern and hard shell-like surface makes me think it could be some type of (marine?) arthropod. But I'm really unsure. It's quite light in weight, and hollow.

Any ideas about what this is and how it got to this state would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A friend of mine helped to identify it as some type of Chiton

Here are some site to further help you identify:

then again, it could be the spawn of Godzilla.
1) Do you live near Tokyo?
2) Does it seem to have an ability to spew a nuclear laser cannon?
3) What about a ferocious roar?
