Hey all! As you can see that I have only 8% Best Answers, how can I increase it? I would also like to become a Top Contributor. What are the steps? BTW, will deleting answers which are not best will increase the Best Answers Percentage? Please help!

Best Answers - There are several ways to improve the chances.
1. Write very detailed, complete sentence, correct spelling responses. They are much more likely to be picked.
2. Looking at your profile, you answer questions that get many answers. The odds are against you with those. Go to categories you like, and sort the questions by number of answers and work with zero and one answer questions. It also helps those people.
3. Be positive, but truthful. Don't speculate, don't chat, and don't try to be the questioner's friend. Getting chummy actual hurts your chances except in the P&S category.

The TC badge is a measure of recent participation on YA. Badges come and go with each new Monday. Yahoo keeps the formula secret (so they can change it if needed). The best guess based on experience of long time users is that you need:
200 or more total points per week
30-50 answers per week in a single category
20 or more BAs in the category within the last 3 weeks (10-15% most people think)
If your level of participation falls below the target levels, you lose your badge. Then you have to earn it back. There are no TC badges for the P&S and Jokes categories.

Most of the people with high percentages answer the questions with the fewest answers deliberately, so that they are the only answerer and they get picked as best, it doesn't mean they really know anything. Just do that and you'll have a high percentage and a shiny badge in no time.

By answering a lot of questions and getting best answers in different categories and also having a best answer perctentage over 12%.

Try to get best answers in one section. Pick a section, and then stick to it for a week plus answering as many questions as possible.

You have to give good answers. And yes, deleting your answers you feel aren't good will increase it but will also lose points, making it longer and harder to get to top contributor.
