HELP!! My HDMI cable does not fit into my cable box.?

I recently purchased a HDTV which came with a HDMI cord, I went and picked up a HDbox from my cable company and the HDMI cord that came with my tv does not fit into the HDMI port on the cable box. The one on the cable box is the size of the USB input on my LAN cord?

Im pretty sure Im using the right port, all of the others are for wires and this one does say HDMI right next to it. If I just connect it through the wire components then the picture looks like crap and there is no sound.

Then that port is a USB port not HDMI port. If it doesn't have a HDMI output then you will have to use component cables (red, green, blue). But check again and look for a port that says HDMI

Does the HDMI cable fit into the HDMI port on the tv. If yes, then your cable company may have given you a very old HD box that has only DVI out. If the HDMI doesn't fit into your tv either, then it's not HDMI. Go back to their store and bring the box and the cable and tell them you want a newer HD box with HDMI out or another HDMI cable.

As mentioned above, you can use red/green/blue component cable and get equal picture quality from the cable box. But if you want HDMI and the cable fits into your tv, then the box should be switched out.

So im assuming it does have hdmi, but no sound, then you have to change the settings on the tv so that it can read the correct sound bites. You might have to change it from bitstream to pcm or change the bit rate on it from 24 to 16 or whatever the tv offers. It usually has an auto set so that it changes the resolution and sound settings for you, just make sure its connected and its on.

Hdmi is Hdmi. Are you sticking into the right port?
