Despite heavy deaths during the war, the muslim population of Bosnia went up following the conflict of the 1990's. Most of this was due to muslims leaving other parts of the former country of Yugoslavia and coming to Bosnia. Internal migration of muslims to Bosnia hit it's highest peaks between 2001 and 2004. Currently there are just under 2 million muslims in Bosnia or around 40% of the population.
