Are you upset that the PSN is down? Read this!?

While I understand the frustration, being pissed at Sony is just stupid. Its not their fault that someone hacked their servers. Of course they took the system down. This is not some small game server like Minecraft that can be put back up in a hours time. Sony's network includes not only the PSN, but the PS store (both game and video store), Qriocity, Home, Life w/Playstation, Hulu Plus, Netflix, whatever that other video service is?, and more importantly their other electronics business (which is the bigger one, Playstation is but a small part of Sony's company!) Its not just the PSN Sony is having problems with. They are having issues in other parts of their company also!

A security risk puts a lot in jeporady, so it is no quick fix. This is not "hey, the game servers are down". Their entire company is being comprimised and they are not going put the PSN back on until they fix it AND put measures in place so that it doesnt happen again.

I feel sorry for you people who are getting so upset at Sony. You clearly have nothing else going in your life. Its video games, it'll be back up in due time. Until then, go do something constructive with your life.

Thank you for saying this. You worded it great for the people who are angry at Sony.

I am very upset that the PSN is down, but I wouldn't mind it being down for a week as long as the matter is resolved. I am upset at the Anonymous group, and I wish someone could tell me why they did it.

I totally agree with you. Its not the end of the world. And you know what? We arent paying monthly like the Xbox 360 users. We are getting this service for FREE. The least we can do is be paitent and wait.

I really agree and appreciate you posting this.

I really want them to get it fixed and add extra security so none of this BS would happen again.

Go out and play some sports or something. You game system will ALWAYS be there...

"PSN maintenance is requiring greater time than estimated, and is now estimated to end a million/19, Saturday, at approximately 2am PST. We exhibit regret for the inconvenience." it extremely is rumored that some who have been signed in in basic terms before the community occurring and stay signed in wouldn't have a project. The outages are often spotty; inspite of the indisputable fact that, and each so often you may get right of entry to the community each and every so often you are able to no longer. Its hit or omit (yet in general omit)

At BDE the reason behind the attack was supposedly to make a statement against Sony for going after another hacker who found ways to hack the PS3 to play pirated game and get in the the PS3 system with a lawsuit. Sony also went after the guys PayPal account to go against his subscribers who were buying the instructions on how to hack the PS3. The hacking community apparently didn't approve of Sony's actions and took measures into their own. Here's the articles concerning it.

-------------------------------------------------------

"Before the attacks on the Sony sites, Anonymous had announced it would target the company because of Sony's lawsuit against a user named George Hotz. Sony obtained a restraining order against Hotz and other hackers for allegedly jailbreaking the PlayStation 3 game console to run unauthorized software such as pirated games, and for providing software tools that others could use.

'Disciplinary Actions'

Sony also sought and received access to Hotz' social-media accounts, and to the IP addresses of visitors to his web site. The company also obtained access to his PayPal account to see donations in support of his jailbreaking efforts.

According to news reports, Sony was looking especially for payments from supporters in northern California. The company has been seeking to try the case in Northern California, which Hotz, a New Jersey resident, has resisted.

In an open letter to Sony, Anonymous said Sony "abused the judicial system in an attempt to censor information on how your products work." It added that the company had "victimized your own customers merely for possessing and sharing information," adding that these actions mean Sony "violated the privacy of thousands."

Anonymous said the anti-Sony effort against the sites, which it is called OpSony, were "disciplinary actions" against Sony's private domains, which were paid for with Sony's own money, and implicitly compared that to Sony's actions against Hotz's privately owned game console. Sony has said it was protecting its intellectual-property rights.

Sony and Hotz reached a settlement two weeks ago. The terms of the agreement were not made public, although Hotz agreed to a permanent injunction."

In the meantime people need to enjoy life. Game is all it is. A Game.

I got a little annoyed for like five minutes because I just got the new mortal kombat and I wasn't able to play it online. Although, then I went out and played basketball instead. No big deal
