on top where your signal is you will see a 3g or 4g sign hope this helps

Type in the serial number which you can find in settings - general- about on this part of apple's site https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do it will give you all the details including exact model (3g, 3gs) and warranty info for free.
