How long does it take for someone to give an estimate on repairs in a home?

A couple of weeks ago, there was a pipe burst in my condo and I now have water damages all over the ceiling. My condo management company told me they are currently waiting on an estimator to give them a quote on how much it will costs to fix the damages. The estimator came last Thursday so it has almost been a week.

I was wondering how long does it take for someone to give an estimate on how much it costs to do some repairs in a home?

Also, how would one repair water damage to a ceiling? (I have the white popcorn style ceiling) Does it need to be replaced or painted?

Thanks.

A week or more once the estimator is done is not that uncommon when there are multiple parties involved, but keep checking with the management for the progress.
As far as the ceiling is concerned it can be simply repaired for one leak just stains the drywall, unless you had sagging or actual ceiling come down. They will most often wet the popcorn and scrape it off seal the ceiling with Kilz or simular sealer and re-apply the popcorn.
Any repair will be dusty so remove knick-knacks and electronics...good luck hope things get back to normal soon.

The job has probably been estimated already. It's the insurance company vs condo management that is fighting to get the damage covered and paid for. The insurance company has to approve the repairs for payment.

A lady we know suffered damage to her home by a run-away vehicle. This was 9 months ago. The insurance company is haggling with the repair contractor over the extent of repairs needed to fix the damage.

Should not take that long. The repair should have been done immediately an then quotes gotten to repair the damage of fixing the repair. The urgency should have been to fix the immediate problem and then if time is required to get estimates to complete the repair that would be understandable but it still should still be reasonable.

Should take anywhere from an half hr to an hr and to fix it the ceiling would have to be taken down and the pipe cut than just connect new piping and throw up some drywall it should only take two to three days at the most depending on the contractor but I myself can do it all in about 8-10 hrs

Ceiling needs taken down etc, Although for a quote, The estimator would have to call round their companies and check up on their rates, IF they do not have a database with their rates already on it. So the fact youve waited this long seems wrong.
