Becka describes bipolar mania extremely well, far more accurately than most people without the condition.

People who say "Oh I get angry and have mood swings am I bipolar?" do not have the faintest idea of what it is. Changed states do not involve "mood swings". They involve being stuck in a completely uncontrolled manic or depressive (or mixed) state for extended peiods of time, often months. Rapid cycling (switching between the two) is rare but still far, far more extreme than simple mood swings.

As somoene (not bipolar) that has had both manic and depressive episodes, they are something you absolutely do not need to question on the internet. They are completely unlike any experience anyone can comprehend without being exposed to them. It's not an "excuse" because people experiencing the condition are completely out of control. You don't think "hey im manic this is a good excuse", because you aren't thinking, you have no ability to judge when an idea is bad.

ADHD is less extreme, and is a lot more easily confusable, but is still not something anyone who just self-diagnoses it is likely to have.

No not everyone is bi-polar or ADHD. My husband is bi-polar and there is a drastic difference between his mood swings and someone elses. People can have normal mood swings but a person with bi-polar will be ok one minute and angry the next at something that didn't even phase you.

I would advise you to do some research on these mental illnesses to find out more about them and the people that suffer from them.

I have bipolar which is so hard to live with brought on by traumatic experiences my father being a violent thug I was raped as a teenager and my baby died! Bipolar can be passed on through genes or very traumatic experience

kevin did you know that people who are bipolar or have adhd are a lot more likely to use illegal drugs? and lets stop with this "excuse" because if the person wanted to do the illegal drugs then there is something wrong with them in the first place to WANT to do it. normal people dont WANT to do this sort of stuff so we can stop with the simple minded "its an excuse"
