What is this? It was in my Email, but not from Y!A?

"(a nonsense screen name) wants to connect with you on Yahoo!" The message popped up in my inbox, along with a button to 'Accept'. I won't accept without better information, but I admit to being curious.
Any comments on what could be going on from the community?

@ I do enjoy getting Emails from the Y!A community. I don't want to stop it all. It was that this one did not come with all the warnings, safeguards, etc, that a Y!A forwarded Email normally has. I wondered how this person got my Email directly. I appreciate your input.

It's just another way for the Spammers to hook you.

Several months ago this suggestion---from the Yahoo Answer Team---seemed to be stopping them.
Mouse over your Hi Name (top left), and click on "Profile" to open your Pulse page.
On that page click on "settings" (top right).
Scroll to "Notifications" and click on "manage email notifications".
Then check the "NO boxes on the Invites". (all of them).
Click "Done".
*****************
You should also disable "Updates".
On your pulse page----click "settings" then scroll to and click on "Manage Updates". UNcheck the box----"share my updates" and click "save".

To disable updates on your mail settings.
Mail page>>options>>mail/more options>>>>>AND UNCHECK the button next to "enable updates". Then click "save changes" at the top of the page.
