boat wiring reverse rotation?

I have a reverse rotation small block Chevy, we took the Original distributor out, marked the direction of the rotor, and installed the new transistor dist, and put the plug wires on according to the normal sbc firing order, it wont fire, it will pop back but not run, on a reverse rotation do the plug wires go on differently??

Sounds like you have disrupted the timing of your motor.
Obtain a maintenance manual for your motor and read and look at the schematics for changing out a distributor.

It involves stuff like finding top dead center of number one cylinder, the position of the valves and install of distributor in a certain position.
If after this you still have an in op motor, take it to a marine shop to have them see what they can do for you and have the original distributor with you at that time.
