After being dropped, there really isn't any software that you will have any luck using. There has been physical damage done to the drive. In this case the only option is more than likely a clean-room environment to remove the plates and move the data to a usb drive or another hdd. EDIT: Cost varies on your location, The shop that I have send them out for me has to send them to Montreal, Canada (that is the nearest center to me, and will usually run between $200 to $300 USD.
drives are protected against this but if it was powered at the time, then you may have bounced the heads on the surface of the platters. the only time you might have been able to copy data off was at the time you did it.
once a drive starts clicking, this means it cant see/read the tracks. in this case its probably because the surface of track 0 has been clobbered it is unlikely you will get anywhere with it.
an absolute outside chance is to read the disk with SMART disabled if sector 0 is actually ok the disk might spin up. you may need to put it in a pc to do this. it will then only click when it reaches the duff surface.
the longer you run it over the scratched surface the more likely the heads will be damaged as well if they are not already damaged.
The chances of the freezer trick working is probably about a 1000 to 1. Those hard drives are very fragile. Well actually any hard drives are. I have a laptop here on my work bench right now that the hard drive don't work. The lady told me that her son got mad at the computer and slammed the lid shut. That ruined the hard drive.
No- great ability generic no longer straightforward drives could probable require greater potential than the USB interface on my own grants. The USB specification limits how plenty gadgets are in a position to entice. The enclosure theory reported above could paintings, yet i've got faith that this style of force won't be stable except plugged right into a USB hub with that is very own AC adapter.
