What are some tips to save money around the house?

I realized today that our water usage is 33% lower than last year at this time. I saved 57% today on groceries with my club card, personalized savings, sales, and coupons. We changed cell phone plans to save $30 a month. Things like that.

What do YOU do to save money on household bills?

In the summer I hang my clothes outside and save a ton on my electricity bill. Added bonus, the laundry smells amazing. I use a reel mower to cut the grass (no gas or electricity use but only good for a small yard). Added bonus, you get a bit of a work out. use the microwave instead of the oven. It won't heat up the house in the summer like the oven does and uses less electricity. Get rid of cable and get something like netflicks. I used to spend $70 a month for cable that I wasn't watching because nothing good was ever on but scraped that for netflicks. I now spend $8 a month for movies and tv shows with no commercials and I can get it on my cell phone too for when I am traveling. Unfortunately if you are into the reality tv shows or want the new tv shows this won't work as they offer older shows. Also if you want to save a bit of money on gas fill you car up in the morning when the temperature is lower. Gas expands when it gets warm so you will actually be putting less gas in your car if you fill up on a hot day then you would on a cold day. These are just a few ideas. Good luck

Are you saving money on water use too? Showering instead of bathing, washing with a hand towel instead of showering? Do you have a garden with plants that require a lot of watering? Can you rig up drip irrigation using rubber tubing? Can you replace some of the plants for others that are easier to maintain? You might want to look up a few books on the wartime economy from WWII. I recently saw one that had economically efficient recipes that provided a healthy diet. I find a lot of really good information on the Internet (are you with the most economical provider? Have they added unnecessary services to your bills?) As has been said above, whatever methods you take, make sure you feel comfortable living that way or you'll go up the wall. Sitting around at home all day to save money going out to the mall will drive you crazy, so taking walks in the outdoors will help you. Perhaps you can even get together a dog walking job and earn some money at the same time!

here are a few key tips: For food you want to use as many coupons as possible search the internet, papers whatever it takes you can basically make your food budget disappear.

For electricity only wash clothes that are severely dirty, you can get by with a shirt if you wear it then put it back in the closet. also hang your clothes to dry.

buying a family bundle with internet, phone ect is usually the best way to save money but its always good to shop around for deals

Have not really thought about it but since you asked the coupon thing and sales is my thing as well.
Using less electricity around my home has also helped. I am constantly on my kids about turning off lights and TV's when they are not in use. Things such as that have helped.
