How to turn the microphone or Sound Recorder off?

Hi, I own an Acer Aspire 5920G and I've reinstalled windows 7 yesterday with all its drivers. I've discovered that from the media/entertainment buttons the recording one is turned on and the microphone also! How in the world do I turn them off??? I really tried everything, but it's not working...please help!!!

Go to control panel > hardware and sound (you'll figure it out from there, just find the mic. etc)
