this is true, and for some it is problematic in understanding. it does not have to confuse.
the Creator is not bound by the limitations of his creation. otherwise he would not have been present to create. he loves the ones he created and wants to be in fellowship with them the way he was before the fall of man. he entered the world as a physical man but this was not all of his existence. the physical aspect of himself he made to be just like us and he experienced life as we do. when he died that life ended. it was indeed a sacrifice for the one who took great pleasure in referring to himself as the Son of Man. he continues to live with those who love him as the Holy Spirit indwells.

I have found that a lot of people in the 20's enjoy asking absurd questions, hence all the "who was running things when Jesus died?" and "So... God was his own father and he sacrificed himself to himself" and so forth are a manifestation of that.

It's a generational thing. There is no answer that can actually increase their knowledge on the subject even a little. They grasp it just fine - that's not why they are asking.

It's often assumed that Joseph was dead by the time of Christ's Passion.

Where's the long-form birth certificate proving that God was the father????
