Why does Yahoo Answers only allow you to be a Top Contributor in three different categories?

I'm just wondering why you aren't allowed to be a TC in all of the categories that you qualify for it.

BQ- Do you think they should change that?

I have been a TC in four different categories, just not all at once. I was in Fantasy Sports, Football, and Basketball. And, now that football season is over, I haven't been in there much, but I'll probably get the two in football and fantasy sports back, and then also in basketball when that season is going on, also. So, that would be four, and I think I would be able to have that.

@ K-Dawg- I answered like 2 pages of questions from like 9 AM- 11 AM. Just quick answers because there are few people in that section, and got a lot of best answers, I'm actually on the leader board there.

TC badges come and go, so actively maintaining more than 3 is HARD. But it IS possible. The limitation is probably due to simply something like line spacing on the mouse-over pop-up on our avatars. Or just that this is a nice AVERAGE number to use, since very few folks DO qualify for more than that. However, there WAS a glitch in the past where some folks who qualified showed as many as 5 categories on their pop-up, which probably was what prompted staff to fix the code and bring it back down to 3 VISIBLE ones.

But it was also proof that your place on additional TC badge lists is marked by the site - so if you drop ONE badge, another one will slip in to takes its place.

Bottom line? Their site; their choice. You can always SUGGEST they post more of the badges up at the Suggestion Board on the ABOUT tab.

I am under the influence that it would be virtually impossible for users to be a category in as many as they wanted. For one, it is an issue of time. There simply isn't enough time (24 hours) for a user to maintain that kind of status. The only way it would happen (and I still don't believe this) is if a user literally stayed up all day and all night answering questions. But also look at the percentage factor of this. According to an unofficial yahoo report, you must have at least between 10-12% of best answer in any category. If you think of it logically, your percentage would not be in that range if you start stretching it more after 3 categories. Lets say you wanted to be a TC in 5 categories. Well that isn't exactly logical (based on mathematics) because you would end up losing your badge in another category based on not having enough time spent in one category, or your percentage would drop for every answer you give that isn't given best answer. So logically it doesn't make sense.

BQ: No I think it is fine the way it is. Too many users spend too much time on this site as it is Yahoo doesn't need to further feed their addictions by adding that feature.

After having been here since the very beginning through many suspended accounts, I have had TC in quite a few categories, once in two categories. I'm down to one right now and it is more than enough to keep up with. Plus, TC badges are a target. :P God Bless!

Your question is interior the overall English talking questions/section. you may get a particular % of perfect solutions in a unmarried class for the former week. Yahoo doesnt provide the formula or % notwithstanding that is for one class--or on occasion 2 or 3, see you later because the % is attained, in each You get the badge each Monday Morning US Time. Its only for that week,no longer everlasting.

I don't think it would be fair to change it, then I'd have a badge in 4-5 sections.
