Anyone have any experience with sudden hearing loss and dementia?

My father has lewy body dementia. While he was having hallucinations, he suddeniy lost his hearing. His hearing did not return after the hallucinations stopped. Does anyone on here have an experience with sudden hearing loss in someone who has dementia. He is under doctor's care so I do not need suggestions to see a doctor. Has anyone had any experience with this situation? Thanks for any input.

I also posted this in mental health. Please excuse the multiple posting, but I am in search of information on this serious situation.

I've heard of this before, and it sounds like something similar to "apophonia", except in reverse. Apophonia is when your brain does not register that you have the ability to speak, or is too shocked to speak, so maybe he has had some sort of auditory version of this, but I have no idea. I'm not a physician or psychiatric doctor, so don't take my opinion as fact, but this is what it sounds like to me.
