To be pansexual means to be attracted to a person based solely on personality (and perhaps looks) but not based on gender. A pansexual may be attracted to boys, girls, gays, straights, transgendered, etc.

It means that when you're attracted to someone, it isn't about their gender or sex. You may find something about their sex or gender expression appealing, but that's not why you're attracted to them. Bisexual is different because it means that you're only attracted to the binary genders, male and female. Pansexual people can be attracted to people of non-binary genders too. Some of us identify as some form of "fluid gender" also and don't believe that gender should be important to anything. Although that's not all of us and not even all of us who are fluid gender-identifying people, it's what pansexuality is mostly known for. I think that's stupid because that's only a small sect of us and gender and sexuality aren't the same thing anyway. People who don't think gender is an important have a right to their opinions, but that shouldn't be all that we're known for.

"Pan" comes from the Latin root meaning "all."

A pansexual person is able to be attracted to anyone of all types - men, women, transgendered people, transexuals, hermaphrodites, etc. They love others based on personality, not what they are.

It's basically the same as bisexual, only a bit more intense. Not only do you not care about said person's gender, you also don't care about their looks, job, past, etc; you just fall for who you fall for. They literally believe love is blind. It sounds pretty awesome.

Means you don't care about the person's parts, just the person.
