What constitutes a "commercial project" vs an "un-commercial project" via youtube?

I keep hearing these terms and would like some clarification. If i'm making a "how to" video at home and putting it on youtube, is that considered "uncommercial?"

What would be a good example of a "commercial project?" Examples for both would be great. Thank you.

The words have several meanings. Commercial generally means that you are trying to generate revenue. It involves "commerce" which is buying and selling. If you invent a new type of eyeglass and want to sell it to customers you could pay for ads (commercials) or post a YouTube video about it (commercial).

If your how-to video tries to get people to buy something from you it is commercial. If your video results in you getting a kick-back from a manufacturer, it is probably commercial but not everyone would know that you are getting money. If your video is trying to get you "discovered" so you get your own tv show, it might be commercial since you are promoting yourself.
