Ex-catholics, did you ever research any of the Church Dogmas that you disagreed with while still a Catholic?
I ask because all who have claimed to be ex-catholic on Y!A, have shown that they know diddly squat about the Church and Her teachings. Did any of you ever ask yourself :
"hummm... I don't understand (or agree with) this doctrine that the Church teaches, Why does the Church teach it? Why don't I do a little research by reading what the Early Church Fathers had to say, or the Church Doctors, what did they have to say?"
I find it ironic, that every ex-catholic I have come across, have done little to no research to understand the Catholic Doctrine and Theology. Yet they jump ship and do as much research to go on an offensive attack against the Church with the neochristianis.
It is like what a JW asked me once. He said "in college, if you are in a class where the teacher is no good and you are failing because of him/her, what do you do?" His answer "you go else where."
I feel like there are many who have this mentality, so simple minded. Anyone smart would look at it as:
Well if I am in a Math Class, it is best to find a teacher who teaches the same subject. What good would it do you, to go to an English teacher for math? LOL he didn't like that comeback, though that's the reality of things.
So have any of you actually done some legitimate studying before jumping ship?
@ synopsis., so... you just went back as far as 1819, or more precisely mid-19th century. So you did very little research. Okay, thanks for answering. Why didn't you look a bit further, like some of the writings of Saint Jerome, or St. Thomas Aquinas, or St. Alphonsus Liguori? (just a few to out of many).
Do you even know what the Immaculate Conception is?
