Ex-catholics, did you ever research any of the Church Dogmas that you disagreed with while still a Catholic?

I ask because all who have claimed to be ex-catholic on Y!A, have shown that they know diddly squat about the Church and Her teachings. Did any of you ever ask yourself :

"hummm... I don't understand (or agree with) this doctrine that the Church teaches, Why does the Church teach it? Why don't I do a little research by reading what the Early Church Fathers had to say, or the Church Doctors, what did they have to say?"

I find it ironic, that every ex-catholic I have come across, have done little to no research to understand the Catholic Doctrine and Theology. Yet they jump ship and do as much research to go on an offensive attack against the Church with the neochristianis.

It is like what a JW asked me once. He said "in college, if you are in a class where the teacher is no good and you are failing because of him/her, what do you do?" His answer "you go else where."

I feel like there are many who have this mentality, so simple minded. Anyone smart would look at it as:

Well if I am in a Math Class, it is best to find a teacher who teaches the same subject. What good would it do you, to go to an English teacher for math? LOL he didn't like that comeback, though that's the reality of things.

So have any of you actually done some legitimate studying before jumping ship?

@ synopsis., so... you just went back as far as 1819, or more precisely mid-19th century. So you did very little research. Okay, thanks for answering. Why didn't you look a bit further, like some of the writings of Saint Jerome, or St. Thomas Aquinas, or St. Alphonsus Liguori? (just a few to out of many).

Do you even know what the Immaculate Conception is?

SEE? how they don't DARE to show up? It was not important then to their salvation and they dimly have any better understanding now, especially since the Protestants teach "all are saved" anyway.

Don't think that the Church they left is now doing anything like Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus, however, a de fide dogma which the newchurch will no longer teach or hold.. The new doctrine is "all are saved." and it teaches this in its insidious New Mass in which it is attempted to confect with the words, "for all." If that's the case, then all are saved! Hooray. No one has to do anything. Pope Leo XIII excommunicated the entire Anglican body for this very teaching against the Mass.

If the Protestants came back now, they would be the first to dissent,
but THIS TIME THEY WOULD BE RIGHT!

Additionally, I list more doctrinal authentic Catholic book sources than anyone I know on R & S, included here is an Encyclical. Do you think these lazy neophytes will read? They are lazy; they are THE LOST, the TD's, the IGNORANT.

Angry Candy answer is no more than one would expect from her level of knowledge. I have asked a couple of Catholics why they left the Church and it was more personality based than dogma based. In other words a Priest said something that offended them or as in most others they did not feel the Church had any business telling them how to live there lives. Of course those were the ones who divorced and got remarried. It's sad that so many have decided the rules of modern society are more pertinent to there daily lives than like many say our old fashion beliefs like no condom's or why not abortion if the baby will grow up in a bad home or birth control pills in which i've often pointed out that the pill is no more than a license to fornicate or commit adultery. I'd better stop or i'll be ranting as it is a subject i can go on about.

I left the church because I found the teachings surrounding the Immaculate Conception nonsensical, and none of my local priests or bishop could understand it either.

Even the stuff in Denzinger doesn't hold together.

But you don't know who Denzinger is, because you have done little or nothing to understand Catholic doctrine or theology.

Roman Catholicism is of advantage to paedophiles, there is no other excuse for following the church.

I found that unnecessary, since they were not in the bible.
