How come my internet speed is slow?

Question

I've been on my providers website (Bigpond) we should get 25 gig a month I've used 5.5 gigs 
And my speed should be around about 500 kbps and im getting 16... I don't get it?
Is it something to do with the fact that me and my dad are using it at the same time on our laptops. My dad only uses the ANZ site Ebay and Facebook. I use most lots of sites... Is there someway I can fix this?
And also the cords that connect from my internet box and the telephone into the wall (Not power, sorry can't remember what it's called :| ) were ripped in 2 I've replaced them since then...

Give your network provider a call, they should be able to assist, BigPond are always helpful.

Wireless can knock down speed.. Quite A Bit I  thats it though... Dont worry, I have the same problem.. And I have new Computer and HighSpeed... my rating is **** though for download speed... and Upload... BUT, Your problem could be the Servers problem.... U could be a far way from an Internet server... This can Affect Speed.... ALOT! The closer to a server the better the connections... Why do you think the UK has the best speed for internet speed.. Its because they have a server in place nearly one every 80-120 miles Not even.. And theres so many to choose from over there.... You could try switching your Ports though for your wireless.. Change it from the Default to a different Port.. That way u dont get as much traffic though one connection :D
