Opinions vary wildly, though most agree that the earlier stuff represents Hawkwind at their best. DoReMi is probably the strongest studio album, and for the live experience Space Ritual.
Hall of the Mountain Grill and Levitation are also excellent.
Of the more recent albums, Electric Tepee and Alien4 are pretty good.
