2004 Nissan Altima SE buzzing sound?

I just got the car 2 days ago, I hadn't really noticed this noise until today. It has 102,000 miles. It needs brakes pretty bad from what I can feel when I am stopping hard. But anyway, I've noticed this noise when I'm driving, it's a loud buzzing type of noise. It doesn't change with the engine RPM's or anything like that. But it does sort of "wind-down" as I'm stopping. What could it be? The brakes?

Does the sound change when steering side to side. It may be a front wheel bearing. Front wheels spinning on the automotive lift you may feel roughness on one side more than the other. Be very careful. Good Luck

Well. if you need brakes anyway, go ahead and have that taken care of. You can tell the mechanic about this sound, but if it were me, I'd just have my brakes done and see if the sound went away, Can you pinpoint where the sound is coming from. Front, back. which side. approx. area.
