Do you think Windows 8 (or whatever they call it) will be a bust?
Windows versions (for home computers) seem to be like Star Trek films, we get a good one then a bad one in order starting from 3.
Windows 3 was pretty poor. Windows 3.11 was better and considered a good version (I consider 3.11 a different version) Windows 95 although a significant upgrade was a poor and buggy OS Windows 98 was great (i consider SE to be the same version) Windows ME was a complete disaster Windows XP was brilliant Windows Vista was the worst OS ever made, just dreadful, epic fail, etc... Windows 7 seems to be fine.
Going on this trend, I would expect Windows 8 to be buggy and grim and should give it a miss until Windows 9. Do you agree?

Come back OS/2 2.11 all is forgiven. Well actually there was nothing to forgive, it was magic. The Windows 3.1 emulator was at least twice as fast as the real thing and OS/2's networking capability was so much better too. IBM kinda blew it with a poor GUI on OS/2 Warp 3 and 4.
personally i found win 95 a good os probably as this was my first and had no internet so no updates
i found win 98 to be not as good loved win me hated win 2000 xp was ok vista wasn't much better win 7 is a great improvement ,,mainly due to a better system and 64 bit
win 8 looks more like an ipad ,,touch screen to me is a waste when using large screens 28" and 32" will probably use a friends as they are looking to buy a new system with win 8 installed my next upgrade will probably be win 9 and service pack 1 or 2 around 2014
haha windows vista was the worst??? are you kidding me?? if you look from the design of XP and then look at vista there is a **** load of difference... it is the biggest difference of the windows comparison, anyways win 8 will be released 7 Jan 2013 if everything goes like planned, but why would it be a bust? if you already have win 7 on your computer i wouldn't upgrade, it pprobablyisn't that much better, but win 8 will be included in every win computer you buy :) so you don't need to pay for it if you are going to buy a new computer :)
i can't find anything bad about win 7 so i don't think they have pprovedthat much in it.. i mean new is always better :)
I think each version of Windows is an independent event so in this case past performance isn't a reliable indicator of how good (or bad) Windows 8 is likely to be. When it ships we'll evaluate it and if it's lousy we'll give it a pass.
