Fallout 3 GOTY Wont Start?

Question

I just bought Fallout 3 GOTY on Steam yesterday and it won't start. I installed it fine, and when I click on it it takes me to the main menu that says play, options, etc. like it should. When I click play, it takes me to a black screen for about 15 seconds and than it sends me a message that says fallout 3 has experienced a problem and has to exit, and then it just exits. I have tried restarting my computer but it didn't make a difference. I have a Windows XP. Can anyone help?

wrong section, but are you sure you meet all the required specifications, namely your graphics card and dx9?

try updating your graphics card drivers

A lot of times, if a game bombs out with a black screen, it is the video card. I had what I thought was a decent video card until I installed GTA4 and the same thing happened...black screen, then error.

I wound up getting a new video card (AND a 500watt power supply to meet the video cards specs), and have never had an issue since....and PhotoShop works a lot faster because of the new card. 

ALSO,make sure that you have plenty of RAM....8GB is better than 2Gb. Always try to meet the recommended game specs and not the minimum for better play.
