Who is a come forward boxer REALLY tailor made for?

A fighter like Pacquiao, who's also a come forward fighter himself who'll take shots to get shots in, thus putting himself in just as much danger as his opponent? Or a fighter like Mayweather who's a master counter puncher, has tremendous ring IQ and uses his opponents own agressiveness against him?

IMO, a fighter who does nothing but pressure and throw punches while going forward is tailor made for the master counter puncher. What do you think?

I'm not asking who's tailor made for who between Manny and Floyd. My question is because so many guys say that guys like Margarito and Hatton were "tailor made" for Pacquiao, when IMO, they're more tailor made for Money, who would use their pressure and come forward style against them.

I think it really depends on more than just simply the fighters style, like the individuals physical skills and assets they use in the ring.

For instance let's take Margarito. He is flat-footed, and lacks defense. He needs to plant his feet and throw combinations to be at his best. He is tailor made for a guy like Pac, because Manny is WAAY faster than him, gets off five or six punches, and then moves before Margarito can even set his feet and let his own go. Same thing happened in the Mosley fight. Mosley is a fighter, just like Manny, and Margarito was again at a major speed disadvantage, couldn't get his punches off, and wasn't able to adjust or do anything else because he is one dimensional.

I think Margarito is also tailor made for Floyd, because Margarito is right there to be hit, and wouldnt' be able to pin Mayweather against the ropes. Floyd would throw a stiff jab, potshot, and get out of the way before Margarito could get close and let loose.

I think anyone who opens themselves up to throw punches against a fast fighter/boxer, and lacks a capable defense (& doesn't move their head), is going to be at a major disadvantage.

A fighter that comes forward is usually slow which is usually the reason they adapt the style in the first place.

A "come forward" boxer like Marcos Maidana could give another pressure boxer problems if Maidana catches him first since they are both vulnerable coming in on each other, but Pacquiao is an exception to that rule because he posses quick, hard combinations as well as good footwork, example Antonio Margarito.

A pressure boxer would be even more aggressive against a slick boxer because the slick boxer would be backing up and moving trying not to get hit, but Mayweather is an exception to that rule because of his hard ,unpredictable counter punches keeps pressure boxers apprehensive about walking in on him, example Ricky Hattton and Deigo Corrles.

A "come forward", or pressure boxer is usually made for a boxer that may have stamina issues to where they can wear down their opponents and tire them out by either making them run or forcing them to trade, example, Marcos Maidana would be tailor made for Zab Judah ,and James Kirkland would be tailor made for Cory Spinks.

In other words, Pacquiao is always mistakenly seen as a brawler, or a come forward fighter. He have of course pop in his hands but if we'll really assess his style, it is more on a boxer puncher. Pacquiao boxing skills are way underrated imo.

Come forward fighters are slow, always running after his opponents, and needs to established his footing to execute good combinations. Mayweather and Pacquiao doesn't need to set up their feet cause they can throw punches while on a retreat or moving from side to side. That is enough evidence to explain the difference between a come forward fighter and a boxer that have footwork.

an aggressive fighter like hatton is taylor made for mayweather but manny is much quicker than other pressure fighters , i do think to beat pacquiao it will take a counter puncher and floyd is the best but also to beat mayweather it will take a guy that throws a lot of fast punches and no one does that like manny . it's a bit like duran vs leonard ,leonard a great boxer wasn't able to counter duran in there first fight and lost ,but then made duran give up in the Second .so while normally i would agree but manny & floyd aren't normal fighters which is why everyone wants to see the fight ......

Manny is smart and will have to use angles on Floyd. Floyd Carry's his right hand up so high for ultimate protection on that side and has his left shoulder rolled up to deflect punches coming from that side, so he can defensively avoid too much contact. Then he strikes back with dead accurate punches of his own. Manny will swarm, but needs to do so from angles and side movement to get in to Floyds defense. Very interesting match up of skills and mind and of course conditioning.
