My puppy won't eat his food?

Question

I finished transitioning my Aussie/heeler puppy (now almost 12 weeks old) from Purina puppy chow to Blue Buffalo Chicken and Brown Rice (for puppies) last week. He was eating all his food until the transition was done... once I gave him just the Blue Buffalo food, he would eat either like half to 3/4 and, the last day, he's been eating about a quarter. He eats a little bit more if I feed him but I just don't think he likes the taste of it as much as the Purina. And, he has been scratching himself a little more than usual, more likely due to his vaccinations a few days ago though.

I bought a 15lb bag of Blue Buffalo but I can return it to buy a different brand; I am looking to get Wellness Super5mix for puppies. Should I try to keep him  on Blue Buffalo or try to change him to Wellness or something else?

Have you tried a different Flavor for blue buffalo. Like you I have quite a picky eater. That's mia my bloodhound. She was also on Purina for a short amount of time until she started to throw up on it, making her sick. So I switched her to chicken on the blue. But no luck. Then I saw Blue Buffalo's Wilderness line. And there it was Duck flavored. We tried it and she has been loving it. (5 months now).

We tried Wellness, Before the Blue buffalo chicken. Mia wasn't too fond of the flavors, We mixed it she took one sniff, looked up at me, looked back down at the bowl. Dumped it over.

Hmm... he may be. Have you tried Blue Buffalo's Longevity for puppies? We have had our Irish wolf hound on this since he was a pup, but switched when he was over a year old. He seemed to like it. Always eating his meals.

No it is not good for him cats/kittens need a lot more protein and other minerals and vitamins than dogs do. Try mixing the kitten food and the puppy food, it could be he just likes the dish the dog is using, cats are fussy critters, it is part of what makes them so irresistible! Or you could try putting the puppy food in the kitty bowl and visa versa so you can se if it's the dish or the food.
