Linux Geeks! Where is the clipboard in Ubuntu 10.4?
Okay.. What I mean is what is the program that accounts for the clipboard, and what does it use for storage? Is it all RAM does it use SWAP, and can I dump the clipboard to a file auto-magically? Obviously I know I can paste :b
What I want to do is move where the clipboard contents are or else replicate them to another location.
Bonus points if you know how to do it in windows or Mac!

you're saying that it reads the CD even if if that is inserted before you boot, the subject is that for the time of boot the CD is dealt with as a accepted SCSI gadget not a particular gadget. that's the reason you could boot from a CD to place in any OS. i might try some accepted drivers by utilising telling Ubuntu that that is a few thing else this is extra accepted. one component to attempt is to obtain a replica of the Knoppix boot CD and notice if it acknowledges it and if it does all you pick. if so then there's a Linux motive force on your CD. If something can know a bite of hardware Knoppix can. you'll be able to finally end up in basic terms being able to study CD's not write them yet whilst Knoppix acknowledges it and shall we you study and write then purely seem interior the hardware definitions once you have Knoppix booted and notice what it thinks that is and tell Ubuntu that.
I'm not certain, but I believe the clipboard is in ram that is provided by the X server.
here is how you can dump it to a file: http://linuxtidbits.wordpress.com/2008/02/22/command-line-to-clipboard/
just fyi linux has two clipboards. one for ctrl+c/v and one that is only text that you can use by selecting (highlighting the text) and clicking the mouse wheel.
