Why are people obsessed with Lil Wayne?

Question

First of all, it's not because I'm closed minded. I listen to all genre of music and give credit where it's due. I even listen to country, to fusion, classic rock, blues, jazz, hip hop, even those lovey dovy bs people like Bruno Mars even though I got no respect for the man.

So many people keep saying Lil Wayne is either best rapper alive or the best in the history of the game... Are people forgetting Nas, Tupac, Biggie, Rakim, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, NWA, DMX, etc? How can someone who's lyrics be "real G's move in silence like lasagna" or "lick me like a lollipop" be considered a great lyricist? If anything, Nas is the best lyricist, Biggie had best flow, and Tupac had amazing flow and great beats. Just explain to me why you like Lil Wayne because that's something I do not understand... not to mention a lot of the kids listening to him are middle-class spoiled white punk kids who complain about their moms and blast the music in their mother's cars. And these kids also think Rick Ross and Asher Roth are in the top 10 of all times.

@Paige Burton no one comes up with the **** he does because its fcking worthless ****. He abuses auto tune, his rhymes are whack as **** and he rhymes so slowly because he can't rap. Rap isn't about hoes bling and swag you dumb *****, but I don't expect your ignorant *** to notice that.

Anyway, people think he is the best purely because he is promoted by the media. Stupid *** teenagers just think he's dope because him and other whack mainstream rappers are the only ones they know, and they love auto tune and shitty lyrics. 

These types of idiots often like Young Money, Gucci Mane, Waka  Flocka, Birdman, Soulja Boy, Pitbull and other whack *** motherfckers.

People love this **** because that's what the media is putting out just watch television and you'll see all these dumb **** trying to rhyme. As long as he continues to come out on the television and his whack lyrics are playing on the radio people will buy his ****. Most of the people that like mainstream rappers like Lil Wayne haven't listened to real lyrics and verses by any real artists like some that you mentioned above. So basically as long as any person is portrayed as the best rapper of all time by the media the people will believe it. Just remember when Lil Wayne stops making what some call music a different **** will probably take his place.

Actually there is absolutely nothing wrong with Lil Wayne...Granted you have a good point but let me put it to you like this bet you cant come up with anything better and if so you aint lil wayne so get off his jock he make more money then you do toooo and just like Drake said cuz he dropped dis track well personally i cant get to it but I'm bumpin some wayne in my headphones right now and and he's amazing nobody else comes up wit some of the **** he does and If you wanna really know whos in my top ten Im white and 21 and both my kids is mixed and my fav's are Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, Plies, Drake, Nicki Minaj, and my boy J.R. Patton so don't knock his hustle kuz you aint feelin it I bet you there is alot of ppl that would agree wit me on this Weezy is da **** dats y every body was screamin FREE WEEZY when he got locked up oh yea and Bruno Mars sucks so I feel like you really have no reason to be tryna clown on Dewayne Carter.
