Wife owns a 10 Mazda 3 itouring and we have had zero concerns.
Basic maintenance, fun to drive, average 30 mpg.
Took a 450 mile road trip and averaged almost 37 mpg, overall.
Only 2 complaints from my perspective -
1) Engine is a little buzzy for my liking, but I drive an 09 G37, so I am a little pickier.
2) Back seat is way too cramped. If you have kids, you will want to make sure your child safety seat will fit.

I own a 2010 Mazda 3 itouring. What I love about the car is the stylish interior. It is well designed and does not feel cheap. The car is plenty fast and gets good gas mileage. The smiley face grille stands out from the crowd. Go with Mazda 3, you will not be sorry.

Mazdas are some great cars. Here is a link to some pictures of a guy that crashed his mazdaspeed3 and actually walked away from it(its bad).
