Is it ok to leave my Macaw in its cage some days?

Hey I have a Severe Macaw, and some days when I get off work I am just NOT in the mood to play with him, since he is very needy and constantly has to be with me.

Is it ok to some days ignore him?
I am talking VERY rarely!!!! He usually gets to be out 5hrs each day during the work week and anywhere from 5 to 10 hrs each day on the weekends.

Is it OK? No, not really-it's not fair of us to keep these guys in cages ever, but... Is that realistic? NO!! There are just pain days that you can't work with the bird. Make sure he has ample toys to keep him occupied and maybe rotate them out so that when you do have a down day you can give him something "new" to play with.
As long as he is well cared for he is not going to be hurt by a day every blue moon when you don't let him run your life. EVERYONE has those days!!

If you need to then by all means do so but you shouldn't really if he lives on his own he NEEDS socialization time every day; I know they are very needy but that macaws for you; you may find that it stresses him having to stay in if he's used to being out daily. If he starts picking his feathers out (stress/frustration) then i'd have him out even if your not in the mood to.
