I have a number of 35mm film cameras all working that I don't need. does anyone know of someone who could make use of them? I have put them on ebay and sold some, but it seems a shame to just throw them away.

Charity thrift stores like Goodwill and Salvation Army are always grateful for donations.
If the cameras are manually adjustable, you might consider contacting a local high school or college's art department to see if they would be interested in them. With all of the funding cuts that are happening, schools' art programs are usually among the first to feel the pinch.
Donations to either place are usually considered tax-deductible, too.

I agree with the suggestions to donate them to a school or thrift store.
While you say they all work, any cameras that are not used for a period of tyme and are not serviced need it. Even if it's just new light seals.
I know this might sound crazy but I do some basic camera repair and often accept donated cameras which I repair/service and then give to local photographers. Anything that I cannot fix, I donate or tear down for parts. I do not sell any cameras that are given to me. The advantage I see to my method is that the cameras will actually get proper servicing such as new light seals, cleaning and adjustment. Often schools and thrift stores do not have the ability to do this and the cameras are given to people who end up breaking them further and having to get rid of them instead of pay for costly repairs.

A short list of what you have would have helped. Some film Nikons, Canons and ALL Leicas are worth big bucks, and should go on ebay. Less valuable models should go to a yard sale or get donated.

Since they're all in working order, you could donate them to the Film Photography Project for sale and awards as prizes in their podcast drawings.
