Is there a politician you believe when they make campaign promises?

If so, who? What did they say?

Perhaps an example: Recently elected Governor of California, Jerry Brown, used this mantra during his campaign, "At this point in my life, I'm willing to do just that." Pretty spiffy for a man in his seventies who had served two terms as governor back in the 80's, with no political ambitions beyond the office he was seeking. He used this continuously to convince the voters he was willing to put party politics behind him and do what was best for the people of the state. In his first 9 months he has given the correction officers, big campaign supporters, a contract where first year employees receive 8 weeks paid vacation. He has given the college grant money to illegal aliens. Now he is hiring former state employees who are receiving 100,000+ in retirement to 100,000+ state jobs with no loss in their retirement. Actually he didn't lie, just forgot to mention which people he'd be taking care of.

It would be foolish to believe ANY politician, and not because they're all crooked... To believe a politician's promises is to not only believe that they are (A) truly willing to keep their promise, but also B) ABLE to keep their promise. Anyone with even marginal experience in inside politics knows that politicians are not freewheeling do-gooders that make their own decisions by ANY stretch. They're simply show-puppets controlled by Other Bigger Interests. All of them. Politicians are only able to take (and especially hold) office by appeasing their "investors", which are not, as it turns out, the common-folk voters.

I think most average Americans, and even some politicians new to the field aren't fully aware that politicians don't run anything - lobbies and corporations run everything behind the scenes, and even the most well meaning politicians who have every intention of keeping their promises soon find out they don't have much of a say.

Campaign Promises are created SOLELY as selling points to garner votes to get themselves elected (at which point it doesn't matter if they're kept). Unfortunately, politicians themselves have little or no control over whether they're able to actually KEEP their promises. Were they able to, you have to ask yourself why any politician would FAIL to keep their promises? Laziness? Meanness? Obviously "whipping everything into shape real quick" would benefit everybody, so why WOULDN'T they just go ahead and keep all the promises? The answer of course, is that they can't. People would do well to understand this before they get too excited about political "promises".

Well not in my Demonrat party but the Republicans do have someone there that I do trust. You probably heard of him his name is Ron Paul. I say he is honest but I don't like him cause then he would create the right system where jobs would grow. Then I would have no excuse for not having a job.He may cut my wonderful welfare which would force me to find work. I rather let the illegal aliens do all the work while I collect welfare.

No, they seem to forget their promises once elected. I'd rather see a candidate that made no promises, other than to do the job to the best of his ability.

No never has been, I'd rather hear about solutions and not promises and accusations against one another. God Bless.

Wikileaks has shown that Obama has been honest and transparent in all he has done.
