Shouldn't that question be under government and politics? I think you missed the category.
?
Needs some fixes.
Universal health care is questionable in some aspects, but private insurance has proven to be a failure time and time again. I think universal health care is the best way to go, but it needs to be run properly and responsibly. Considering how social security was treated by politicians, it makes one question where else to turn, if both government and private industry have proven their failure at properly running business.
@Krankor - I definitely agree with you. It's the Christian conservative-republicans who are typically against this. Yet, they also claim to follow Jesus, who clearly taught to protect the sick and needy and that money only spoils the soul. I guess making sure gays can't get married is "Christian value" but when it comes to making sure the sick are always cared for, then Jesus' words fade in the wind.
You're also right about European countries. France has the #1 health care system in the world, and they are on universal health care (whereas the US is somewhere in I believe the 30s). Even Israel has universal health care (which is funded by United States tax dollars). The only problem I see is America is so corrupt, I fear how corrupted it would be run if we did have universal health care.

It's a sane, logical, and beneficial plan, which has been proven successful in the rest of the Western world. There is no reason for us not to have it, beyond corporate greed and backward conservative politics.
Funny how so many allegedly "christian" conservatives venomously object to this type of public policy, while claiming to follow the example of a man who healed the sick and feed/clothed the poor out of the goodness of his heart.
@ Blessed: So was the abolition of slavery, and the granting of civil rights to women and Blacks.

But yahoo needs to provide better "coverage" for posted questions (the answer voting is ever sooo exploitable) or I'm going 2 end up

I think it's too little, too late, but it's all he could get past the insurance company executives who bought all the congressmen they could.
Having health care tied to employment is insanity.
