Why the sudden surge in paranormal interests? Has man kind gone in cycles of belief?
Death and after life is such a mystery. Suddenly TV makes it common place. Have other generations over the years have had the same surge of beliefs?

The belief has always been out there. I think it has to do with people ability to talk to each other regarding the subject of the paranormal without most thinking that you have a mental issue.
In the past, there were many subjects that no one would discuss openly through the years. Some that come to mind are human sexuality, birth control, religious beliefs domestic violence..the list goes one. All of a sudden, it was ok to discuss these things in an open manner. Nothing really changed. The same things that happened 20-30 years ago, continue to happen today, just our ability to discuss it changed. I am happy to see that there are more interested in getting answers and asking questions.

Yeah, its always been there. As long as there is money to be made, people will have an interest. Don't mistake belief for interest. Many people watch those tv shows, and enjoy them, but they don't necessarily believe in the paranormal. They are still fun, and its still fun to pretend ghosts are real, even if you don't believe in them.
Just yesterday, my 4 year old was screaming and hiding because she said there was a ghost. I looked where she was pointing and said, "I don't see a ghost." She replied, sounding annoyed at me, "Daddy, its a fake ghost."

You would think that with the technologies of today interest would wane. With high tech cameras and just about everyone walking around with one in their pocket, you'd expect all kinds of great paranormal evidence. Still we have none. Even TV shows with big money budgets can never seem to catch that proof. That in itself would seem to get people to question their paranormal beliefs, but it seems to have the opposite effect.
Horror movies and books have always been popular, I think it's just becoming evident, that more folks than many of us thought, actually believe paranormal activity exists.
The fact so many can have these silly ideas propped up by dramatized "reality" ghost and psychic shows that never really find anything, is a step backwards for human advancement.

what I think is that people are being surrounded to eachother so much, which exposes us to more info, so some of us have risen in intelligence of where we came from and where we will all eventually go. And by instinct we share our discoveries with others, speeding the intrest of the subject(:
I hope this answered your question

If it's gone in circles then we're certainly at the centre of one now - I've never seen so much rubbish written about something that we all (sensible people anyway) know doesn't exist and is used merely as a means of making money by charlatans who try to fool the more gullible members of the public into believing that they have some "special" gift. As it says over the front of my local shoe repair shop: COBBLERS.
