If God is love, then why do some people believe that he hates gays?

I mean really, if God is full of mercy and love, then why would he hate people just because they are gay?

Some people think the Bible was originally written in English. Little do they know that the Original Bible scrolls did not say anything bad about Homosexuality. - In 1611, when the Bible was translated into English, the powers that be grossly mistranslated that Leviticus verse.

All people are created equal as per the Bible. I wouldn't believe that God hates gays, you be who you want to be, sometimes people don't understand anything but the basics. We are all special in our own ways and God loves everyone.

For some people, the reason is that they have been misinformed. For others, it's willful ignorance. The evidence exists that the Bible in the original languages does not condemn homosexuality, but some choose to ignore it, preferring their prejudice over truth.

What the Bible does and does not say in the original languages is explored at the link below.

Edit: People who say that being gay is a choice speak out of a place of ignorance. I know I will get thumbs down. But that's because of what I said above: some people prefer darkness over light, their own prejudices over truth. Not a single one can disprove the evidence, but they won't see it, because they choose not to. Natural ignorance can be overlooked; we are all born ignorant. But choosing to remain that way is a disgrace.

It is truly amazing that God so loves the world and the world is populated by sinful men and women.
The mercy of God to forgive sin and to crucify it in you and I has been extended on your behalf as well as mine.
I am deeply grateful to God.

He wouldn't. Religion uses the word of God to control the opinion of the masses. I don't follow any religion, but I do believe in the idea of God, the God shared by all religions: A creator who loves us all, regardless of our differences. If God didn't want gay people, he wouldn't have created them. Just like if you don't want a second floor on your house in the Sims, you don't build one.
