Filling Pickups (P-90) with wax, good idea?

I would appreciate any comments on how waxing P-90 pickups, to dampen feed back,
on a Gibson ES-135 might effect the tone of the guitar.
One luthier suggested this when I told him the instrument tends to squeal at band volume.
Has anyone done this with positive results?

I've only ever done this to pickups that have become microphonic. Seeing as the pickups just generated endless squealing before potting them, I can't really say there were any negative repercussions to it.

Wax is a pretty neutral material electrically, so it doesn't affect how the pickups work in any way. It simply prevents loose wires from vibrating within the coil.
