One of my good friend's dad passed away about as week ago, from being sick with cancer. What would she want me to say? What can I say that will be of any comfort? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

surprisingly, all you really have to say is "I am sorry." It is such a simple phrase but it let's your friend know that you care. Another word of advice is to call/visit your friend every once in a while to see how she is doing, it may be difficult for you because you don't always know what to say to comfort her, but sometimes just having someone be there is a comfort.
When my grandpa died, so many of my friends would say "Call me if you need to talk or anything" but none of them ever called me to see how i was dealing. I didn't feel like my friends were really there for me, they were just kind of going through the motions, but you can be there for your friend.
