A Long Trip
On July 2010, me and some friends decide to go backpacking. We chose Jakarta for the destination. After we did some preparations we went to the station. Not long after we arrived, the train came. Then we got in to the train and had a seat. In the train, we spent our time by doing something fun like playing cards, smoking and telling jokes at day and sleep in the night.
We wake at dawn and we got our train stopped in Cirebon. It wasn’t a station, just an open area surrounded with large rice fields. We didn’t know exactly what happened. After an hour, we got information from the machinist. He told that there was an accident at Sukabumi. The accident made some rails damaged and blocked the other train’s way. We were very shocked to hear the information. We had to wait until the rail fixed.
After delayed for 12 hours, we continued our travel. We supposed to arrived at 10.00 am, but we reached Jatinegara station at 11.30 pm. We were greeted by our old friends there. Because there were no mass tranportation at the time, we decided to take a walk. In our walk, we shared our experiences and told about our life in Jogja. They are very interested in our story and they missed Jogja so much.
We stopped to take a rest. There was an “angkringan” in front of us. We wonder that “ngkringan” was exist in Jakarta. The place was good, it was in a bridge so we can see the beautiful view of metropolitan city from there. I saw many big buildings shining everywhere, they looked so amazing. We continued to have some conversation till dawn. It was a wonderful night for us after a long journey we had.
On tomorrow we visited some parts of East Jakarta. Then on the night, we decided to go home. We supposed to be there for one more day, but we had no more time because of the delay. It was a memorable experience for me. Although it was a long and tiring journey, I was very happy at that time. We promised to our old friends that we will back someday.
