Christians: Is watching, "Horror Movies", a sin?

I'm 16. I'm working on getting my faith to be, closer in God, and his son, "Jesus Christ".
I love watching, horror movies. But, I don't know if I'm watching them intentionally?
Like, For example: Yesterday, I was bored, I always, wanted to see the movie, "Silent Hill", and I finally got the chance to on my iPod Touch 4g. It was pretty, scary, the "night before", because of the parts. So, I almost got sick. I stopped, watching it for a while. But, than I was afraid to go back, to sleep. I Wanted to watch it again, and I kind of watched a little bit of it, but then I completely stopped.
Because, it was just too creepy. I finished it tonight, it was really confusing at the end!
Now, I'm worried that I , affected my connection with, "Jesus" and "God"! I do pray, every night. If I forget, I pray when I wake up. That helps me sleep, and I feel a whole lot better.
So is it, a sin too, "Watch Horror movies"? I just finished my, last horror movie as of tonight!
So I'm not watching anymore !!!!! This movie, gave me a wake up call! Because, I was to afraid, to go to sleep last night. I almost, missed my bus, until my mom woked me up!
So is it a sin? How can I not watch any more horror movies, or be tempted too?

My opinion: God is about love. God doesn't mind, know, or care if you watch horror movies, as long as you treat the people around you in a loving, responsible way.

It's not a matter what "Christians" think, but what matters is what the "Bible" thinks because it contains God's thoughts. Here are some scriptures that might help you :)

Horror movies are usually filled with gore and violence. But, how does Jehovah (God) feel about that?
“Anyone loving violence His soul certainly hates.” (Psalm 11:5)

Not to be overlooked are the spiritistic and demonistic overtones of many horror films. Would a Christian youth be ‘standing firm against the machinations of the Devil’ if he fed himself on a diet of films that featured spiritism?

"But as for the cowards and those without faith and those who are disgusting in their filth and murderers and fornicators and those practicing spiritism and idolaters and all the liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur. This means the second death.” (Revelation 21:8)
(The punishment mentioned isn't literal, since the book of Revelation contains many symbolisms.)

"Put on the complete suit of armor from God that YOU may be able to stand firm against the machinations of the Devil;" (Ephesians 6:11)

Generally, all movies have a rating system ~ in the event you are of age concerning the rating of the movie than it is ok to view.

Remember, many movies today have very little if any merit regarding religious observation.

The following is a great site for viewing first hand how the church reviewed a movie in question:

http://old.usccb.org/movies/movieall.shtml

1. Click the "Letter" concerning the title of the movie you would like to search.
example: click K, then Kk - Kz (check box) to search for Kung Fu Panda, when the drop down list appears scrool down to the title and click to review.

Rating system:

A-I -- general patronage;
A-II -- adults and adolescents;
A-III -- adults;
L -- limited adult audience, films whose problematic content many adults would find troubling. L replaces the previous classification, A-IV.
O -- morally offensive.

The above is an excellent way that is favored by the church!

God bless'

I used to love horror movies. I had over 150 dvds in my collection of them. Slowly, I lost interest in them. Now, I watch one two or three times a year. And they have to not be gory or pro-satanic in nature.

Chantal - you need to forget your opinion and read the book. God loves, but he is not the "God of Love" all you new age hippies preach about. That emplys that He lets sin slip by. If this is true, take that up with the residents of Sodom. Make no mistake, God loves, but He is just as well.
