Genuinely wanting to understand...?

I grew up in church. In high school, I was very active in church. At some point I got lost even though faith and belief was in my heart somewhere. Then I started seeing too much of life. I started seeing innocent, voiceless, animals be hurt. I started hearing more and more stories of children and elderly being hurt. And I started knowing too many GOOD people with cancer. I saw a child scream for the nurses not to hurt her anymore when she was going to get an IV and she had cancer too...

I feel like I have lost all faith and belief in God in the last couple of years... I don't understand how it's written that he loves his children so much that he gave his son to save us but only after we die. I don't understand because I am not even a parent yet and I would go through the most painful anything a hundred times if it meant saving these people and animals from such pain...

When you answer this, please answer it as though a young child with cancer is asking it... why do bad things happen to good and innocent people?

How can there be any acceptable excuse when it comes to a child or baby suffering such pain? Children are innocent.I just need to believe that there is something bigger then me out there. But it's really hard for me to believe in the God the majority believe in when I think about all of this.

If you are going to be rude please don't respond.

you might want to ask this question to a child that has cancer and is dieing that believes in god. ask him to give you a reason of the hope that is in him. you see even if you no longer believe in god but yet you still hope there is god it is still righteous. think of how it would be with no hope at all. There is gods grace in hope.

It's not an easy concept no matter what you believe. I do know that when I was a Christian and I was suffering, I had so much more anger on top of all my other emotions because I couldn't understand why a loving god would not end my suffering, especially since I was very devoted to him.

As an atheist, pain and suffering are still not easy to accept, but I can accept it. It didn't makes sense when I thought God existed, but assuming that he doesn't, I can accept it as part of the natural world. And then whatever pain or emotions I'm feeling, I at least don't have to deal with anger on top of all that.

If you are the type of person who wants answers and you really want to know what you believe, I would suggest reading and looking up this information, whether it's Christian or atheist authors. Obviously, I think atheism is the way to go, but you really have to decide for yourself.
Here's a documentary about the deconversion process: http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/why-i-am-no-longer-a-christian/
The bible is also a great read.

Good luck. I hope you find comfort, and more importantly, truth.

There's an answer to your question but not what you would expect, it's not what Atheist say when they say there is no God and it's not what the clergy calls God's way or God's is in charge when in truth the true God gives us the answer with his written word the Bible.
Christendom's clergy(preachers, priest, father's etc) are not what you think they are, case in point your question, you are asking if God cares then why all the pain and suffering, why do good people have bad things happen to them if there's a God that loves mankind? All forms of beliefs except one are put in our paths to cause subterfuge, 2 Corinthians 4:4 says) 4 among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through.
They have lead you to believe that God's in charge and because of this we see more and more people leaving the belief in God and becoming Atheist or evolutionist because if there was a God of love what happens wouldn't be happening so logically there is no God.
Lets read 1 John 5:19 where it says ) 19 We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one.
Satan has made the claim that man will always choose himself over God, Satan made this claim about Job and Satan lost, Jesus was the one that really proved Satan the liar he is and as the scriptures say Satan is like a roaring Lion seeking to devour everyone. Satan has lost so now his goal is to take mankind down with him and your question is one of the ways he does it, he causes the problem then he gets his agents(Christendoms clergy) to tell you it's God's will and then you start blaming God and then you stop believing in God.
Adam and Eve chose Satan over Jehovah and what we are now living is that choice that Adam and Eve made but at Gen 3:15 we see God's first prophecy where God talks of a seed(Jesus) that would bruise the serpent(Satan) in the head(dead).
There's a battle between the true God and Satan and we are right in the middle of it, we are the issue and the out come is what will happen to this earth and to the creation of man, Satan wants us dead but the true God has offered us hope by means of his Son Jesus Christ. Satan wants you to believe in a heaven or a hell because he does not want you to find out what the Bible says is going to happen.
There is a free Bible study aid called "What Does the Bible Really Teach?" you can get and the Bible shows that man will live forever right here on earth where nothing bad(death, pain and sorrow) will happen(Rev 21:3-4) & all those who who have died will be resurrected(Rom 6:7), even the unrighteous(bad people) will be resurrected(Acts 24:15) & all wrongs will be made right & all injustices be as if they never happen.
This is why we preach from door to door the good news of God's Kingdom(Dan 2:44; Matt 24:14; 2Tim 4:2). But first God has to take care of 3 things & the one that caused them (1st) false religion-Babylon the great (2nd) world government- the wild beast (3rd) wickedness.
We have to take sides either to Jesus' right-meek and humble-sheep or to his left the stubborn- goats. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

im sorry youve seen all this, when we grow up and see that stuff its always a big thing, and the fact you are affected by it only shows your growing up well,
but that doesnt make it any easier to see

i dont think anyone can tell you any excuse thats acceptable for it, other than sadly its just what happens, life can be tough sometimes , if there is a god im sure it has its reasons, that we cant possibly know right now, but that again doesnt make it easier for us to live with these things

you just do what you can to get on with your life, and if you can you help
;-)

"How can there be any acceptable excuse when it comes to a child or baby suffering such pain?"

There is no acceptable excuse for these things if you believe in an all powerful God. That's why I and many people like me have thought about this and countless other things that God is supposed to be in charge of and came the logical conclusion that it simply isn't true. I do not believe in God, my life has improved dramatically since I've come to realize that.
