so doest the percentage go up for best answer? (which is what I thought) or is it the amount of points you get? cause im getting mixed answers. im not worried about it going down, just didn't understand. if someone doesn't choose an answer, as The best answer, and time for the question runs out does that make your percentage down, because allot of people i answered questions haven't been back on since they posted their questions. thanks for feedback

All that means is how often people choose your answer as best. My best answer % was once down to 7% so I decided that I would stop giving answers that I don't think are going to be chosen as best. For instance, in your answer to "can a female puppy get pregnant without mating?" you didn't really add anything that hadn't already been said. If you want to get a higher best answer % then you should probably not answer questions unless you think you have a shot at getting chosen as best.
Edit: It is most definitely for best answer; point have nothing to do with it. I don't think the person below me understood your question. If the voters choose your answer as best instead of the asker, it still counts and if a best answer has not yet been chosen (like if it's an open question or if nobody ever voted on it) then it doesn't count.
You lose 5 points for each question you ask. You gain only 2 points for each question you answer. Yahoo! grants you 10 points each time your answer is selected 'best answer'. You have to answer more questions than you ask to move ahead.
Also, if a question you answer is deleted for breaking the rules, your answer is deleted as well and you lose the 2 points you gained.
